The loose ring design allows the mouthpiece to move independently, which softens the transmission of the aids compared to more fixed cheekpieces such as an eggbutt. This mobility encourages chewing and helps the horse follow the hand more willingly. To avoid the skin being pinched between the moving rings, the use of bit guards is recommended. The single-jointed Inno Sense mouthpiece applies gentle pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue while allowing sufficient tongue freedom, supporting engagement without tension.
