Sweet Iron
The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet iron will rust when in contact with (air) humidity. The surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which will encourage the horse to take more contact.
The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the Trust bit to a brownish grey/silver color. This is the desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits. If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may form. This is easily removes by wiping it off with a damp cloth.
Sweet Iron bits are suitable for most horses. Sweet Iron helps the horse to salivate more, which will encourage a better acceptance of the bit. The Sweet Iron collection has the most variation in mouthpieces, each with its own specific effect.
Eggbutt Bit
The eggbut is a standard cheekpiece. The rings cannot move separately from each other, so the riders aid is conveyed directly and the bit lies stable in the horse’s mouth. In addition, this cheekpiece does not pinch the corners of the horse’s mouth so bit rings are not necessary.
Eliptical Mouthpiece
An eliptical (double-jointed) mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the layers and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws, the hinge points can press on the layers which can cause wounds. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.
